Three things that I learnt are NZ parliament are:

  • David Carter is the speaker of the house
  • Anyone can get kicked out
  • The opposition sits on the left side

Here is the link to my compare and contrast map explaining the difference between democracy and dictatorship.

The thing that I found most challenging during this unit of learning was coming up with things on the spot because it just was challenging

My favorite improvisation game was family photo because it was fun

My next step/ something I need to work on further in improvisation is to make things up on the spot because I am bad at it

Extended Writing
Think of a time when you felt as though you were in a void or when you saw something that happens seldom. Write a paragraph about this.
Sometime I feel like I am in a void at school because it’s boring. One reason I feel this way is when my assignment is returned to me. I also don’t like when It’s a raining day .

I can read and interpret a range of graphs

For maths I have been learning to read and interpret a range of graphs. This relates to the National Standards as it meets the criteria of:

  • I can compare distributions visually (Year ⅞ Standard)
Here is link to my Statistical Literacy spreadsheet link  which shows all of the graphs and tables I can read and interpret.

I have also compared and contrasted some of the graphs. Below are the links to them

Term 1 Integrated Learning - Leadership

We have been learning all about What makes a good leader.

We identified that good leaders show 6 main character traits. These are Integrity, Trustworthy, Goal focused, Resilient, Active thinker, Motivational.

The leadership trait that I think I show the most is integrity because I am 80% always positive .

The leadership trait I would most like to develop is resilient because I give up when I am in the pit and then I get the can't be bothered attitude.

Something NEW I have learnt about leadership is leaders don't have to be a good role model, they can do horrible things.

The SOLO level that I reached during this unit of learning is multi structural because I gathered ideas.

My next step in learning about leadership is to apply everything that I have learnt about leadership to my own leadership roles.

Flag

WALT I can locate, evaluate, and summarize information and ideas within texts and across a range of texts.

Flag activy

We had to analyse both side of the flag, pros and cons and also come up what our opinion is. I went great because I finished it on time.

Leadership Traits

WALT describe the traits of an effective leader
I got up to multisturctural
This is a example

Integrity- being honest and having strong moral principles.
Trustworthy-able to be relied on as honest or truthful.
Resilient-never give up when things get hard.
Goal Focused-trying to achieve your goal no matter what.
Active Thinker-actively thinking about what your doing
Motivational- staying by someone and helping them achieve a goal.

WALT: Know the equivalent decimal and percentage forms for everyday fractions

I got up to extended abstract
Unfortunately I do not have any images but i did complete the activity
Here is one example: 3/5 as a percentage is 60%

Reading Authors Purpose

WALI can evaluate writers’ purposes and consider how they have used structure and language to suit these purposes.

I got up to extended abstract because I completed it and did a good job on it, and i followed the success criteria.

My next step is to set a new goal.

Here is my work

PE fielding and striking

WALT: Apply Striking and Fielding activities in a range of sports and activities.

My Strengths

The striking strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were Firm and correct grip on whatever you are batting with. Stronger hand lower down on bat.

The throwing and catching strategies I was able to effectively demonstrate during the games we played were Keep your eye on the ball. Watch the ball all the way into your hands. Watch the ball all the way to its target.

My Next Steps

To improve my striking of a ball I need to Wide base/ Good stance
because I can get more points by hitting it further.

To Improve my catching and fielding I need to Cup your hands or reverse cup as early as possible because I can give the other team less points by catching the ball

The game that I enjoyed the most was rounders because it was a little competiive
but not too much

Leadership in the food forest

Over the last two the year 8's have been working on the food forest because it needed some work.
Group D AKA my group did chop and drop witch is where you cut the plant 2cm long from top to bottom.
I also cut all the unwanted little bushes. Before that we made envelopes and collected the seeds with the year 4's, we collected the seeds because the 4's next year are planting them.We used envelopes so the seeds won't sweat. It was really hot so it got hard at times to cut down things. Here is a photo of the food forest. It was fun because we got to explore the food forest. What we could done next time is to get more seeds in a envelope. We also had to write the date of when we got the seeds and the name of the seed

Here is a photo of the food forest.
